Washington Filmworks Announces
Washington Filmworks approves funding assistance for a feature film out of Spokane and a commercial from LA based production company Damon Live Action. Damon Live Action produced a commercial last year in Seattle. Due to their positive experience on last year's shoot the production jumped on the opportunity to bring another project to the state. These projects mark a total of 43 projects approved through the Washington Filmworks program since inception in 2007.
The Launch of the Washington Production Index
ADD OR MODIFY YOUR LISTING
Filmmakers always ask "What is Washington's crew and resource depth?" Both Washington Filmworks and the Seattle Office of Film + Music have traditionally referred these inquires to the Northwest Production Index (NWfilm.com) in order to help them find the most unbiased, complete directory of crew and production resources possible. In an effort to create a more accurate and up to date database of production resources available, Washington Filmworks partnered with Media Index Publishing in redesigning a more comprehensive production index. This redesigned Washington Production Index will continue to be the go to location for filmmaker inquires and will be fully representative of the depth of crew, talent and infrastructure available in Washington State.
Features of the new site include:
• Users can login and modify listings, including uploading a resume or adding credits.
• Crew can list in 3 categories and must have credits for the categories they are listed in.
• Companies can list in up to 8 categories.
• Only Washington based crew and companies will be listed.
• Crew/Companies that have been listed in NWFilm.com have been transferred into the Washington Production Index, and will have until September 1, 2010 to login and modify or update listings. (This is in order to make sure that all listings are accurate and relevant). Media Inc. will be emailing all current listings with temporary passwords and logins.
• There will be a job-posting page that WF will update with jobs and contact information as they come through the office. If you are interested in posting a job to the index you can email the details toinfo@washingtonfilmworks.org with the subject "Job Listing".
• In order to view the job-postings you must be listed in the index.

Washington Filmworks Event Recap
Washington Filmworks and the 2010 Seattle International Film Festival
Inspired by the success of the Park City filmmaker dinners, Washington Filmworks and the Seattle Office of Film + Music hosted two dinners with the Seattle International Film Festival on Saturday, June 5th and Friday, June 11th. The intimate evenings gave Washington Filmworks and the Seattle Office of Film + Music the ability to network and talk business with some of the industry's most influential filmmakers. Guests were treated to signature Northwest cuisine prepared by award-winning chef John Sundstrom from Capitol Hill's Lark Restaurant. And each course was paired with wine provided by Jay Soloff from De Lille Cellars in Redmond, WA.
In addition to the filmmaker dinners, Washington Filmworks and the Seattle Office of Film + Music co-hosted a panel titled "For The Love of Money" on Saturday, June 5th. Moderated by Warren Etheredge from The Warren Report, guests learned from industry professionals Peter Trinh (ICM Independent), Tim Williams (GreenStreet Films) and Seattle-based Producer Jennifer Roth about the pit falls and possibilities of securing money in a time when the worldwide credit crunch has made investors wary and competition for independent film financing fierce.
